Help, I Hate My Job!
The idea for our web site is to create a place where employees can seek advice about their job. It will be an open forum where people can ask questions about a particular industry or their rights at work to ultimately gain the help they need to be happy in their job.
Web Site Research: These are some sites we have looked at which deal with a similar issue:
http://www.ratemyjob.org/http://rateyourjob-rateyourboss.com/
http://www.ratemyemployer.ca/
We were originally thinking that to make our site different we could create a local site just for people working in businesses around Hobart. As well as having an advice forum we were also considering having a ratings system in place where people could rate businesses based on different criteria e.g wages, work conditions, hours. From here the site would generate the current top 5 and bottom 5 places of employment.
First Sketch
This idea however, has raised many issues of liability. Ultimately companies are not going to be impressed if they are slandered or their reputation is put on the line, especially large corporations with the money to easily sue a small web site.
REFORMED IDEA
We have created a proposal for a web site which is directed at Tasmanian employees seeking advice about issues within the workplace. The site is designed to be an open forum where people can ask or answer questions, give advice or vent in relation to workplace issues. The forum will operate according to a strict disclaimer which will be outlined on the site. The site will provide advertising from local employment agencies such as Steps and Career One. It will also provide direct links to their web sites as well as other helpful web sites such as Workplace Standards where employees can gain professional and legal advice.
This initial proposal is intended to be a local site purely for Tasmanian employees however it has the potential expand into a national site.
